they say "once you go black, you'll never go back!" Be the first on your
block to appreciate the majesty of black cats! This sweetie has a mellow
loving disposition and although we call her a black cat, she's actually
pretty typical in having some white markings. Big eyes, big heart, and
big purr!
This time I have been at a shelter since 05/24/2011.

I just want a special person or family to
love me.
I promise to return that love ten-fold!
Name:Morris Gender: Male Breed: Domestic Short Hair Color: Orange/White Tabby Age: Adult Weight: Obese
I'm told I'm a "classic"! I guess I'd
prefer to be "one-of-a-kind", but then again, the way people say it,
"Oh, he's such a classic Morris cat!" (in a sing-songy voice
with smiles on their faces) makes me very proud to be a classic. I'm
told I'm very handsome and I hope that's true. I try to live up to
expectations, you know! When I first got here, I did not like other
cats. Well, that's not true. Truth be known, I was scared of other cats.
(I don't know if that's a "classic Morris trait", but it was true for
me.) I'm happy to say though, that I've realized how much fun it can be
to have fellow cat friends! I hang out with several great cats in the
Kitty Lounge and I'm friends with everyone.
I'd do well in your house if you had
another cat or two, or I'd be equally content to be your one-and-only.
Mostly, I just want a special person or family to love me. I promise to
return that love ten-fold!
Sex: F
DOB: 8/10/10
Description: Maine Coon X - black
From the minute we brought her home from her long stay at the county
shelter, she's made herself at home. She's confident, and very
personable and social – not a shy bone in her body. She’s entranced with
a fuzzy mouse and loves all the different toys we've given her. Sapphire
is doing great with her foster kitty roommate and is very congenial to
other cats. She's neither alpha nor passive, just a buddy. Sapphire
purrs louder the more you pet her. Gentle, firm pets are her favorite,
she just can't get enough. She likes to be held over my shoulder and
snuggled as well, never asking to be let down.
Sapphire is a beautiful cat, but she can be a bit of a tomboy. She’d
love an energetic house, kids, dogs, other cats, and she’d be your best
lapcat as well. She can get overstimulated with too much petting and
playing and sometimes treats us as her playmate, and would thus be
happiest in a home without small children (under 8) so the kids can
enjoy playing with her.
Sapphire's Story: Sapphire was surrendered to the shelter last summer at
the tender age of one year. Her owner never had gotten her spayed, so
when Sapphire went into heat and started acting up, her owner simply
took her into the shelter and got rid of her. She was immediately spayed
by the shelter and put up for adoption, whereupon she settled down. But,
surrounded by cages and cages of kittens coming and going during the
busy kitten season, she languished in her cage, watching people come and
pick the kittens and pass her by unnoticed. It didn’t help that she was
black – black cats are the LAST to be adopted.
This gorgeous, fluffy feline sat in a tiny 2’x2’ cage, waiting. Summer
became Fall, Fall became winter. All the last kittens of the season were
adopted for Christmas, and Sapphire still sat in her 2’x2’ cage. We had
room open up in foster care and went to the shelter to see who needed to
get out. Although all the kitties wanted out of course, none had been
there as long as Sapphire. Five months, this young and playful cat had
been stuck in a small cage - for one-third of her life. Immediately I
knew she was the one who needed to come home with me.
When we got home, she ran around the room then rolled on her back. She
was SO happy to be able to stretch her legs. She became fascinated with
the carpeted cat condo which was parked in front of the window. She
scratched her nails on it, climbed up, and then….. she saw the window
and looked out into the dark, cool night. She hadn’t breathed outdoor
air in 5 months. She was transfixed. After a few hours of eating quality
food, exchanging a few courtesy hisses with her foster cat roomie, and
playing like crazy, she settled down and purred contentedly in my arms.
She runs to me when I come into the foster room, eager to be held and
snuggled, but just LOVES that she can see the out doors and breathe the
cool, rainy air.

Hi, I'm Bella. My owner didn't want me any
more, I don't know why. I'm very sweet, I will rub against your hands and I
like to be combed. I also like to play with toys. I've lived indoors,
without other cats, but there was a small dog. If you are looking for an
independent housemate, give me a chance. I have potential to be the best
cat.
I am a spayed female, buff and white

Missy is a loving cat with lots of snuggles to share. She is very calm but
can also be playful at times. Missy would like a quiet home where she can
relax and be herself. She also prefers to be the only cat in the home so she
can hog all the attention.

11/06/2011
Name:Honey
Muffin Gender:Female Breed:Bombay Color:Black Age:7 years Weight:Medium
I couldn't have picked a better name if I had named myself! You see, I am a
VERY sweet cat; yes, indeed, sweet as honey! I'm not sure if I got this name
because of my loving disposition, or because I'm so cute (and soft...my fur
may be short, but it is every bit as soft as rabbit fur...and it's soooo
glossy!) I have what's called an "apple head", round and adorable. And it
showcases my round, adorable, Carmel-colored eyes just perfectly. I'm going
to pull out all the stops to become your friend. One look at me and you'll
want to take me home. Touch my fur and you'll smile at its softness. And
then watch me look at you and purr...your heart will melt. And if you take
me home, I promise to look at you like that every day for the rest of my
life. Sincerely, Honey Muffin.
About the Bombay breed:
Bombay’s are a sociable, affectionate and very tolerant breed that adores
the company of other dogs, cats, people and children. Bombay’s love
attention. They enjoy being held and being pet. This feline is happy
and content to claim a spot on any available lap perfect for a little cat
nap. The Bombay is known for its
sweet, friendly behavior and personality and its highly remarkable
intellect. There are very few breeds of domesticated cats than can be taught
to fetch and walk on leash. The Bombay is also a cat who desires to speak
its mind, though its voice is not boisterous or annoying and its talkative
nature makes for a great companion.
This breed of cat would make a wonderful unique addition to any home
Hi, I'm Dibby. I came to the shelter as a stray kitty. I
had a small bump on my nose and a bump on my front leg that have been taken
care of. I'm strong and somewhat territorial. I'd be best as an only cat. I
like to get out and look around, you know, check things out. I'm an explorer
and I'm looking for a new home.
I am a male, white and gray domestic shorthair.

spunk!
11/19/2011
Ipanema 7 year old Spayed Female, 9lbs Mini Pinscher
Tall and tan, young and lovely, the girl from Ipanema
goes walking... and she usually has a toy in her mouth! Ipanema is
blessed with a great playful personality. She is fun, vigorous, proud
and high-spirited. One of her greatest pleasures is carrying around a
stuffed toy for everyone to see.
Being a social butterfly suggests she would do better
living with a family that was home most of the day or could take her to
work. She loves the outdoors, but lacks finesse around other dogs and
should avoid dog parks. Long walks and hikes are much better ideas.
Anything you do together will make her happy, particularly if it
includes prancing around with a toy. This sweet angel has amazing
potential and only needs your guidance to fulfill her dreams.

Name:Beezle Gender:Female Breed:Domestic
Short Hair Color:Orange
Tabby Age:7 Years Weight:Large
Beezle and her brother Mister Bill were
brought to the shelter when their family moved to Italy. The siblings had
been with this family since they were kittens, and understandably were a
little shy and uncertain when they arrived. Slowly, they came out of their
shells. Mister Bill was adopted in relatively short order, and Beezle was
moved to communal room to romp and play with other cats. Beezle made friends
quickly! She discovered the joys of the communal room, but also sadly, a
danger.
One morning we discovered that poor Beezle
wouldn't come out of her scratching post hidey hole. No matter how much we
coaxed her, Beezle wouldn't budge. We finally forcibly removed her and
discovered Beezle had somehow fractured her tibia! She has had surgery and
is now recovering nicely. Beezle will not have any lasting damage as a
result of her injury and it is our fondest hope that someone is reading this
right now reading to give her a safe environment in which she can finish her
healing process and bond with a new owners who will for the rest of her life
give her the love she deserves.
When you're around, I'll purr very loudly to show my appreciation
10/11/2011
Name:Rogue Gender:Female Breed:Domestic
Short Hair Color:Black/White Age:8 years Weight:Medium
I
was adopted out of the Shelter awhile back and now I'm back again. My owners
are moving out-of-state. I heard someone ask if they were "moving to the
state that doesn't allow pets." I don't know the answer to that, but a
couple people laughed at the question. I'm not laughing, though. I'm just
sad. Sad to be back here - again.
I
hope there's a family (or even one special person!) out there willing to
love me for me - for the rest of my life. I don't ask for much. In fact, I'm
down right low maintenance! I don't even need to go outside. I will find my
favorite places right inside of a home.
I
have the softest fur, and I'm sure you'll enjoy petting me. When you're
around, I'll purr very loudly to show my appreciation. When you're not
around, I'll be content with my solitude. I just need you to give me a
chance. Sincerely, Rogue (PS I'm not an outlaw like my name implies; I'm
actually 100% law-abiding and a very good cat.)
Name:Jake Gender:Male Breed:Domestic
Short Hair Color:Brown
Tabby Age:9 Years Weight:Medium
Jake was turned back (that's right -back;
poor guy has already been here once!) into the Shelter by owners who are
being foreclosed on. All of us here at the Shelter are hoping this
stay is for Jake both happier and shorter.
Jake had a tough time of it his first time at the Shelter. He arrived with a
badly infected eye that needed to removed and he ended up with us for quite
awhile. Jake has an additional handicap: the poor guy is missing
whiskers on one side of his face. Since whiskers help the cat feel his way
around and are so sensitive that they can detect the slightest directional
change in a breeze, this is almost a "double blindness" for Jake.
Jake seems remarkably well-adjusted and fends very well for himself. In
fact, Jake may be nine years old, but he is a feisty and fearless cat who
appears younger and stronger than his years. Jake would be very content as
an only cat. He has lived amicably with a dog.
Tiger
- Declawed Gender:Female Breed:Domestic
Short Hair Color:Orange
Tabby Age:7 years Weight:Medium
Tiger is a great cat needing a unique home: although she is declawed, Tiger
craves (and we feel needs) outdoor privileges. Tiger was turned into the
Shelter by her owner who had recently moved from a suburban block to a rural
area. In Tiger's old home, she had access to a doggy door and loved being an
inside cat who could go outside at will. There were no problems with her
having this lifestyle. However, when her owners moved and gave her these
same privileges, Tiger was repeatedly attacked by a neighboring cat. Her
owner initially thought the two would just "work things out". However, after
he witnessed one of the attacks, he knew he couldn't subject his declawed
cat to that type of fighting and aggression again. He tried converting Tiger
to an indoor only cat, but she was miserable. Tiger is a sweet girl who has
a history of bonding closely with one person. We're looking for that special
home where a she can enjoy a majority of time in the comforts of home, but
be allowed access to a safe outdoor environment.
Poncho is easy to handle, likes attention,
was friendly when meeting other dogs and not interested in the shelter cat.
He would love a new home, come visit with him. He would do best with
children 12 and up.
I am a neutered male, white Chihuahua -
smooth coated mix.
I am estimated to be about 3 years old. I have been at the shelter since 11/15/2011.
Bogie is a talkative guy who says hi to everybody that walks in
the room. He loves being with people and will follow you around the house
and help you out with whatever you’re doing. Bogie would do best in a home
with teens and no other cats so that he can have all the attention.

Beautiful Brava
obviously had a home where she was well cared for, but then she was
lost, rescued, and brought here. She was happy to be sheltered and fed,
but she isn't sure this is her place of choice to perform; she prefers
to crawl into her own personal dressing room under a towel.
Brava is easy to
coax out and handle when you want to bring her out of hiding, but is a
little overwhelmed right now, and really needs a great new home to feel
totally safe again. Start her out in a room with all she needs,
including maybe a small blanket on a bed where she can create her own
private space until she feels comfortable enough to perform on your
stage

Oh, the stories
lovely Stella could tell if only she had a mind to do so. Where has she
been? She was lost from her original home many years ago and she stayed
off the grid until now. Lovely Stella knows exactly what she wants. She
would like a home with no other pets, or if there had to be a dog, an
elderly, mellow, cat loving dog might be acceptable.
She is past the
stage where a houseful of lively children would be appealing. She is
looking to fill someone's empty nest, in essence! Stella is just
starting her senior years so being warm, indoors and cozy in a quiet
environment is high on her wish list this Christmas.
Stella appreciates
a kind, patient approach so that she can develop some trust. Oh, the
stories Stella could tell...

Paige
8 year old
Spayed Female, 12lbs
Border Terrier Mix
Paige was found wandering around Muir Beach where a local
family gave her shelter and cared for her while they tried to find her legal
guardian. Border Terriers have wonderful personalities, they are
intelligent, agile and were bred to hunt and get into small areas. Paige is
still a little shy and tentative but seems more at ease and relaxed when you
get down on her level. She appears selective with the dogs she meets so
would do better with two casual walks each day rather than visiting a dog
park.
She will do best with older respectful children (16 +) or
in an adult only household. Age is subjective and Paige still has a lot of
spring in her step. Her greatest wish is to be in your home for the
holidays.

Name:
Miss Kitty Gender: Female
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Color: Grey and White
Age: 9 years
Weight: 8 Pounds
Miss Kitty is a gentle beauty. "Grey and
White Domestic Shorthair" doesn't adequately describe her...her colors are
so soft and muted, she is almost what is called a "Blue Creme." Soft and
muted in color and personality...that is Miss Kitty. She is a sweet soul who
adores people and loves to be held. She is also is very good with other
cats. Miss Kitty was turned in when her owners had a new baby. Of course, we
never know all the circumstances in someone's life and there may very well
have been other factors causing the family to make this decision. One thing
we can say, is with her soft and gentle demeanor, we do believe Miss Kitty
would be an excellent family pet.
Name:Sly Gender: Male Breed: Domestic Short Hair - FIV+ Color: White/Grey Age: 9 years Weight: Large
When you work in animal welfare, you see a lot of cats.
Cats of every breed, size and age. Some distinguish themselves more than
others. And every once and awhile, there is a cat that simply stands out,
head and shoulders above the rest.
Sly is that cat. Large, sweet, confident, extremely
affectionate, Sly is the cat who makes every cat lover realize all over
again how and why they first fell in love with cats. And Sly has Feline
AIDS. Poor guy. He came to us as a stray, already neutered and with a
microchip. We tried in vain to find his owner. Who knows what happened and
who knows how long Sly had been on the streets. Long enough to contract a
disease, yes, but not long enough for the life of a stray to impact his
tremendous nature, love of people and outgoing personality.
We know there is a home out there who will recognize that
an AIDS positive cat can lead a long life and want to give Sly a great home.
We have had this little guy out a couple of
times he is a little growly / bossy around other small dogs he was timid
when meeting larger ones, he did not seem interested in cats. He would do
best as an only dog in house-hold. He is very friendly towards people, come
visit with him.
I am a male, tan and white Chihuahua - smooth coated.
I am estimated to be about 1 year and 1 month old.
I have been at the shelter since 12/28/2011.
Beautiful Ashley was found near the Paradise shopping
center looking for someone to love. Living on the street has its
drawbacks. This young lady wants to feel the sun on her back, curled up
on a cozy bed looking out the window of life. One of her greatest
pleasures is having her chin scratched; her eyes close and it’s like she
entering nirvana. Ashley seems to have aversion to being confined or
held too tightly. For now children (14+) should be respectful of her
wishes and not carry her around. She will make a wonderful companion and
is destined for royalty.
Show Ashley that having her in your life is all you need
to make the holidays truly splendid.

Talk about adorable; Roxy is IT! She has apparently lived
mostly out doors; now she is looking to become a family member inside
the house. She would really love to be an only dog where she would get
the attention and training she craves. Although currently not well
mannered when seeing dogs on walks, Roxie has an amazingly good response
to counter conditioning when there are dogs in her vicinity. Roxy has
lived with youngsters before, but because she can be a bit piggy when
taking treats adult supervision will be needed.
Roxy has the right stuff to be a super star with an
experienced family who can continue to work on her foibles. It is
impossible not to love this girl.

Dignified and oh-so kind, Donner

Breed: American Bulldog/Dalmation Mix
Color: White and Black
Age: 4 years Old

Prince of the
manor, that's our stunning Donner! Dignified and oh-so kind, Donner is one
of the most thoughtful dogs we have ever met. He hangs on every word you
say, listening intently, because he doesn't hear very well. At heart, he
wants nothing more than to please, so he listens carefully. At two years
old, he's at the perfect age for learning about the world and everything it
takes to be a great dog. Donner loves everyone and yearns for his special
person to find him so he can fulfill his dream of snuggling up on cold
nights and reassuring you that all is right in the world. Although Donner
has limited hearing, he will most certainly hear the words "I love you". And
no question: You'll hear it back from him.

Sweet little Nina originally came to MHS from a puppy
mill/hoarding situation in 2008. Dogs that come from puppy mills sometimes
have missed out on crucial socialization and training so they need a little
extra help to get along, and darling Nina is no exception. She is a very shy
girl, but if you go slow and give her time, she will crawl into your lap for
a snuggle. She gets very nervous in new environments, so you'll want to help
her feel safe. Nina has also had some trouble with house training, which is
no surprise for a puppy mill dog. Please talk with a Behavior & Training
consultant about how to help Nina with this.
Nina is a sweet, loving girl who wants to find a quiet,
adult-only home where her people are home most of the time. Ask to meet Nina
and see what all the fuss is about!

comfortable he’ll ask you for attention by giving you gentle head butts. He
is also quite fond of a good snuggle in a warm lap. He has reached the
point in his life where a quieter environment would suit him just fine.
Adopting Mango will be a real sweet treat

Name: Pierre
Gender: Male
Breed: Lhasa Apso
Color: Black and White
Age: 10 Years
Weight: 15 Pounds
Hello. My name is now Pierre. I'm not sure the name fully
suits me, but it's better than the name I lived with for most of my life,
which was...I'm embarrassed to tell you, but feel I need to...ummm...Stinky.
There. I've said it. Pierre might not be the perfect name, but I'm on a good
path. I'm ten years old and my person (he was a good, kind man!) is now in
assisted living. He couldn't take me with him. I miss him. I whine
occasionally for him, but mostly because I don't fully understand why I'm
here. I deserve (because I am a good dog!) to have the security of a home
and the love of people surrounding me.
I'm a kind, gentle soul who does well with other dogs. And
staff and volunteers will tell you, I still have quite the prance to my
step! In other words, I'm not a hyper puppy, but I'm a far cry from a slow,
geriatric dog. I'm just a good boy longing for love. I'll make you a great,
lovable, snuggable companion, I promise!
I was adopted in October when I was Edna.
The people did not say why they brought me back, but they named me Sassy.
I'm an older, calm and quiet cat and I need a quiet adult home. I would like
to have a lap to nap in too. We could sit on the couch and watch TV, and I
promise not to talk while your favorite shows are on. I have beautiful long
hair that needs brushing.
I am a female, white and gray domestic
longhair.
I am estimated to be about 14 years old.
I have been at the shelter since 02/01/2012
I am a female, calico domestic shorthair.
I am estimated to be about 2 years old.
I have been at the shelter since 02/01/2012.
Hi, I am Maryjane. I am kind of okay with
being petted, but I am a scared little girl. I would make a wonderful barn
kitty. Although I missing part of my hind leg, I get along just fine. Won't
you come visit with me?
Hi, I'm Abby. I was adopted as a kitten and
lived with some dogs, even though I stayed strictly indoors and am litter
box trained. My family said I was very snuggly with them. I moved to another
house and there was another cat who was territorial, but not me. They had to
let me go because someone is allergic to me. I could sure use a new home
right now.
I am a female, gray tabby domestic
shorthair.
I am estimated to be about 8 years old.
I have been at the shelter since 02/02/2012.
Tiffany has lived a pretty good life so
far. She's very friendly and likes people. She was surrendered because her
owner passed away. She would make a great companion, a perfect lap cat to
sit with you and watch TV. How about it? Sound like something you'd like?
I am a female, seal point Himalayan.
I am estimated to be about 15 years old.
I have been at the shelter since 02/03/2012.
Jack has had some surgery on his lower eye
lids. He is still very uncomfortable, but likes to be held and will cuddly
up with you. He needs special care for a while and would be best with
adults.
I am a male, white and brown tabby domestic
shorthair.
I am estimated to be about 2 years old.
I have been at the shelter since 02/04/2012.
Roxy is a nice older girl she was friendly
when meeting other dogs seems to like calmer dogs more than busy ones. she
was easy to handle she would benefit from training and daily walks, come
visit with her.
I am a spayed female, black and white pit
bull terrier and beagle.
I am estimated to be about 10 years old.
I have been at the shelter since 02/04/2012.
Hi, I'm Midnight. I like it indoors mostly.
I am, after all, 10 years old, calm and quiet. I'd like a comfy window seat
so I can look out at the world. Or better yet, how about a lap? We could sit
and watch tv together. I'd prefer a home without other cats though. Just you
After 12 years of having a home, Alice was
abandoned and left to fend for herself. Alice is a little shy but once you
start talking to her she starts making biscuits and purring. Don't let
Alice's age turn you away from adopting her. The shelter vet said she is in
good shape. Alice is Western Farm Center's Cat of the Week for 2/20/12! With
her adoption you will receive a voucher good for a free collar, a bag of
premium cat food, a litter box with a bag of premium cat litter and a cat
toy.
Alice is available for only $25!
I am a female, black and white domestic
longhair.
I am estimated to be about 10 years old.
I have been at the shelter since 02/08/2012.
Busy Tyson is looking for a home that will keep him, well,
BUSY! This bundle of energy will need plenty of stimulating things to do in
his new home - cat trees to explore, paper bags to hide in, windows to look
out of and lots of toys to play with. He will need daily interactive
exercise with his new people or another perhaps another friendly feline. He
is always on the go! Tyson has a pink nose and his ears are a little on the
bare side; therefore he will need to live inside to protect these areas from
the sun's harmful rays. Besides, his previous owner states "he is
entertaining to watch and even more funny when I interact with him." Who
would want to miss that? Adopt Tyson and let the fun begin!

Milo is no girly man. He has a 'tude
that won't quit, making him both so incredibly adorable and a bit of a
handful. One moment, he's a love bug. The next, he'll let you know he's had
enough of your presence, and it's time to go hunt a toy, or the unattainable
bird outside the window. Or perhaps it's just time to have a staring contest
with the dog. Milo certainly knows how to strut his stuff ! He has lived in
a household with other cats, but will do better as the one and only adored
and pampered cat.

Dear Diesel seems to have been through a lot. Originally
from the Solano County Animal Shelter, Diesel found his way here as a stray.
His previous owner did not respond to our call, so now Diesel is seeking a
new life in Marin. One could do worse. He couldn't be nicer, even though
it's clear he's a bit sad and concerned about what happens next. Even when
startled (and boy can that tail get big!), Diesel is more likely to hide in
a small place and cry a bit than to react with sabers drawn. He loves
petting, quiet cooing and gentle snuggling. We believe that once this
handsome man settles into a new home with loving, patient guardians he will
blossom into a truly self-possessed and wonderful cat.

Louie is a Miniature Dachshund who would benefit from the
tried-and-true duo of diet and exercise. He is rather shy and does not like
people looming over him. However, once he becomes more comfortable, he does
allow himself to be picked up or a leash put on him. Patience is the key to
help him gain confidence. Louie should be an only dog as he did have
disagreements with the other dog in his previous home. Once he gets down to
a healthy size his energy will return and he will enjoy life much more.
Enroll him in a Small Dog I class, although he already walks well on the
leash. This sweet little fellow would prefer a quiet household where he can
enjoy himself as a favorite companion.

Missy
11 month old
Spayed Female, 7lbs
Chihuahua Mix
Missy is about as cute as they come. She loves people, but
she can be cautious of strangers. Once she gets to know you, however, her
favorite place is your lap, where it is easier to reach your face to cover
it with kisses. Missy adores other dogs and would be pleased as punch to go
to a home with another dog. And she loves to play with toys - toss a ball
and watch her go! She can also be a bit of a trouble maker - she'll need a
home where structure, management and training are the name of the game.
Missy sometimes favors her left rear leg; our adoption desk for can give you
more information about this. If you're ready for a funny, friendly, smart
little dog to join your family, please meet Missy.

J.B. is a lithe, sleek zooming machine. However, like many
of life's great personalities, he has a couple of quirks. Although he really
likes to play with other dogs, he isn't fond of sharing highly prized things
(think food) with them. Therefore, we recommend that he be either an "only
dog" or in a multi-dog household with experienced owners. J.B. likes to play
with dogs in wide open spaces where he can zoom away at need. He is less
fond of being cornered by dogs or sharing his person's lap with other dogs.
J.B. likes a little bit of personal space, so older kids would be best.
However, a warm invitation to cuddle is accepted with alacrity. Enjoy every
moment with this quirky little dog.

Spike
10 year old
Neutered Male, 14lbs
Terrier Mix
Even thought Spike looks like he is having a bad hair day,
he has a sweet, gentle soul and endearing personality. He was found lost and
disoriented in San Rafael but no one came to get him. He is comfortable
meeting other dogs and his calm, easy-going demeanor might make him a great
second dog. He does seem restless once he is inside; this anxious behavior
might be due to some hearing loss. If this is the case his new family will
need to be more vigilant and learn to get his attention through hand
signals. Spike will enjoy his daily walks along with a little mental
stimulation to keep his body and mind strong. With your patience and love
this mellow fellow will bring you a life of joy and friendship

Milo is a playful and friendly cat who is very curious
about his surroundings. Milo loves to rub all over and purrs easily. He is
FIV positive but is symptom free and can still live and long and healthy
life! Milo needs to be an indoor-only cat and would need to be the only cat
in the home (unless you have an FIV cat looking for a friend).

Name: Aria
Gender: Female
Breed: Lynx Point Siamese
Color: Cream and White
Age: 8 Years
Weight: 7 Pounds
This petite beauty is a gentle angel. She was turned into
Animal Care and Control as a stray and we are surprised her owners weren't
out scouring the earth for her. Her loving demeanor, slight build and sweet
disposition makes us think of Aria as a delicate cat, one who didn't spend
most of her times outdoors. Of course, who knows her background. What we can
tell with certainty is that she is well-adjusted here at the Shelter. She
spends her days lounging in a soft bed in one of our communal cat rooms. She
has been very good with the other cats she shares space with and extremely
affectionate towards people. She is prize and we hope someone soon
recognizes that and brings her into their home.
Name:
Charlotte
Gender: Female
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Color: Grey Tabby
Age: 7 Years
Weight: 8.5 Pounds
What a difference a few days make! Here was Charlotte's biography last
week: Sweet and subdued, that is our Charlotte. At the moment, Charlotte is
finding life at the shelter a bit overwhelming. Although she likes other
cats, Charlotte has not yet graduated to the comforts of one of our communal
rooms. She prefers her own quarters in one of the cages designed for
singleton cats. When you reach in to pet her, she at first remains still,
hesitant of your attentions. Then she will respond,, gently pushing her head
into your hand to show her appreciation. Charlotte will be the ideal cat for
someone with a quieter lifestyle who is looking for true companion, a buddy
to warm your lap and be by your side throughout the day. Charlotte will be a
loyal girl and great friend!...Today? Charlotte is in one of our communal
rooms, is the first to greet visitors, flopping oh-so-undelicately onto her
back demanding immediate belly rubs. She purrs loudly and appreciatively.
Charlotte has made friends with everyone in the communal room and will even
groom her roommates. This is ONE GREAT CAT!
Elvis came to us from a
household with several animals. The owner reports that Elvis got along with
one of the cats and both dogs, but not the other 3 cats. Sometimes there are
just not enough laps to go around. Here at the shelter, Elvis was a bit shy
and probably not showing his true colors. He was gentle, affectionate, and
enjoyed getting petted, but he was on high alert for any dangers that might
be lurking around the corner. If you start him out in his own room, equipped
with his bed, toys, and a scratching post, he will acclimate and feel safe.
Let him out of the room when he's ready. He will soon be exploring the
house, and we think he will want to cuddle up with you and be your best
friend.

Paris is the perfect little lady. This lovely white cat
with the beautiful blue eyes is sweet and gentle. She has come to us because
her family had to move and couldn't take her with them. Previously, she
lived with a small dog in an adult home and everyone got along just fine.
Because Paris has a pretty pink nose and pink-tinted ears, she must live
safely indoors out of the sun's rays; otherwise she is at risk for skin
cancer. We can just picture her perched on a pink satin pillow napping in a
sunny window or dancing around with a wand toy or two. Or perhaps snuggled
onto your lap while you comb her soft long fur. We think Paris is a darling
cat who will be a gentle and loving companion

Lisbeth is a lot of dog. She likes people and will jump up
on them to show them how much. She pulls like a freight train on the leash
and will need some training to learn to curb that habit – we recommend the
use of a "Sense-ation Harness." She is young and will need a lot of
exercise, but she is probably not a great candidate for dog parks. Long
walks and playing with toys and balls are much better ways to wear her out.
An active guardian will be her best bet. If she isn't given some structure
and training, she could become a bit overwhelming. But if you accept the
responsibility of channeling some of her energy toward civil interactions,
Lisbeth will be a very fun dog to have.
